Or the travails of a man writing erotica from a female point of view and knowing that the largest market is women.
This is like algebra:
Erotica (for Women by Women) by a Man
It’s like A+B-C+D which changes when parenthesis are used for multiplication since you have to do what’s in the parenthesis first (A+B) (-C+D).
Meaning in my definition …
Okay, so what am I trying to say?
Boarding the novel is erotica from a woman’s point of view that women can read although it’s written by a man, namely me.
The idea of erotica for women by women is like “porn for women by women” from filmmakers Erika Lust and Candida Royalle (who pioneered the sub-genre) and there are others, of course.
It’s supposed to be more thoughtful and caring and less overt.
I approached via Twitter a woman who has a website on all things sexual and sensual and asked her to review Boarding. “Sorry, we only do erotica by women for women.”
Well, okay, I’m too polite to argue with her that maybe my story is a lot like erotica for women by women. Shucks, I’m a man.
