Swaying to the Music

LynnSexySaturday_buttonHere’s my post for this edition of My Sexy Saturday and thanks to Lynn Crain as always and the many talented authors on the list. Click here or the image for the hop.

This excerpt is from my work-in-progress Arrival, Book 3 of The Jessie Carter Fashion Series. The story opens at a gala at the Museum of Art in New York and Jessie is in heaven with her friend Callan who befriended her and led her into some detailed sexual exploration in Book 1.

At the end of this excerpt, though, she realizes something and reality finds its way into the dreamy evening.

Oh, and if you’d like a copy of the 1st 3 chapters of Boarding, simply send me an email at ddsymms@yahoo.com.

Sofie smiled as sweetly to Jessie as she did to Callan and seemed to think nothing of the appearance the two gave as a couple. “Have a lovely evening.” She had witnessed the occasional brush of the lips between the two men and had written about their relationship for the paper’s lifestyle edition.

“Thank you, Sofie.” Callan nodded.

“‘Night.” Jessie waved, her fingers wiggling. [how is Jessie dressed and Callan?]

There was no need for another encounter, thought Jessie. Time was ticking later into the night. She was talked out and whatever moisture had been in her throat was gone from the warm air, the wine, cheeses, and lack of simple drinking water. “Shall we go?”

“Yes.” Callan’s blue eyes were as soothing as a calm lake on a sunny day.

She passed a doorway to a patio with marble pillars supporting a railing. “I love the night here.” Jessie whisked Callan to the landing and lights shimmed through the trees in Central Park. The lively notes of the stringed instruments bringing Vivaldi’s Spring to life made their way outdoors and wrapped a bow of romance around her and Callan. What a perfect place to pause, hold each other, and—

Callan’s phone rang with a tone as soft as his personality. He scooped it from his pocket. “Torrey?” Callan turned his eyes from Jessie and looked over the landing. “Check my desk. On the right hand side.” He waited and kept his ear pressed against the phone. “Got it? Oh, good. Yes, we’ll be home soon. Yes, love you, too.” Callan puckered his lips and unrolled a light smacking sound before hanging up and pocketing his phone. “Ah, the man never stops preparing.” He placed a hand on Jessie’s shoulder. “It is lovely, isn’t it?”
